Heavily influenced by his New England roots, Chris Cyrus is a long awaited fresh breath of honest music. Cyrus’s laid back songwriting nods to artists like Jack Johnson and Jerry Garcia, combining the carefree flow of the seacoast with the psychedelic wonder of the woods.
In early 2013 Cyrus began performing in his hometown Hampton Beach, New Hampshire as an acoustic duo cover act at local bars and town fairs. The duo began songwriting and recording in a handmade mom’s-basement-studio. The 11 track album Ukulele Boy was released later that year.
From 2014 to 2017 Cyrus lead the six-piece jam band Slack Tide while attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. The Tide put on over 100 shows in nine states and released the 11 track album Water Monkey. The band continues to record and tour regularly. During that time Cyrus also recorded the 8 track solo album Scalawag Cove in his dorm with the help of future bandmate Ian McFarland and roommate Louis Remenapp.
In 2018 Cyrus left the city and returned to New Hampshire to focus on songwriting and recording. He regularly performs as a solo act in New Hampshire and with Slack Tide along the seacoast. His next project will be a 9 track album titled Back to Scalawag Cove.
