dwayne haggins performs

Haggins’ songs remain solidly rooted in the traditions of country blues, soul and gospel — the soil that grounds and nourishes his fast-blooming songwriting gift — without replowing territory that has already been thoroughly turned. They manage to feel fresh but familiar at the same time. His most recent songs in particular (many of which appear on Heavenly Rose) reflect this penchant for paradox: precisely crafted but emotionally direct, plain-spoken but beautifully sung, street-smart but still vulnerable, sad without being maudlin, funny without being cruel, able to confess pain without seeking pity, steely-eyed but ever tender. Even in Dwayne’s most serious moments, we sense that fun lurks impatiently just around the next musical bend.

dan and the wildfire performs

Dan and the Wildfire is a particularly potent cocktail comprised of 1 part old time mountain folk, 1 part classic rock and roll, and 3 parts bottom shelf bourbon. Mix it up and what you get is a musical experience that burns it's way into your bones and lights up your soul with a crisp, rootsy sound that'll leave you reeling for another taste of that Wildfire. This Boston based band was started by guitarist and singer-songwriter Dan HL in 2011 with trumpeter Thom Brennan and Keyboardist Matt Hines under the auspices of forging a softer, folk sound. Their sound grew beyond the folk boundary when bassist Sam Katz  joined the band. To date, Dan and the Wildfire have played all over New England, Washington D.C., out to Chicago and burned down every place in between. Their third studio album 'Bull Moose', released in March of 2015, is the next chapter in the evolution of the folk, rock experience. Their well received second album 'Smoke Signals' is available worldwide and follows their debut album, 'Nothing, Anything, Everything' released under the moniker 'Dan HL' in 2011.

matt jackson performs

Matt Jackson's release “Prove You Wrong” is an upbeat take on the modern day love story- It has been classified as “Folky-Pop” But the tracks “Somewhere” and “Insomniac” have almost a contemporary pop feel without having any percussion. Matt's top-sound always get peoples attention at shows and his onstage presence and personality keeps people excited for his next show. With a combination of cover songs and originals, Matt Jackson always entertains the crowd.

In 2013 Matt released the single, “Too Far Gone” which takes people by surprise with a powerful vocal that evokes a real, emotional connection with the song.

jbj blue heron performs

JBJ, a singer/songwriter from Boston, completed his first solo album, Tin Man, in the spring of 2015. This past winter, February 2018, he released his second solo album, So Close. Although he plays all the instruments on his albums, JBJ hand-picks a group of seasoned musicians to play his music (as well as choice covers) for live gigs. This group of passionate musicians with different backgrounds and styles make up JBJ's band, Blended Family. JBJ's wild, yet melodic voice (“like sipping whiskey in vocal form” - says a friend from Lizard Lounge) and the band's passionate performances command the attention of any room.

blue heron performs

The music of Green Heron stretches across the entire American folk landscape. Old-time, folk, bluegrass, country, and blues are all represented as the band brings the back porch to the stage. Featuring Betsy Green on fiddle, banjo and vocals, and Scott Heron on guitar, banjo and vocals, the duo has been sharing New England stages together since 2016. The two songwriters weave the contemporary with the traditional and meld high energy performances with emotion and finesse.

Betsy, brought up playing country and bluegrass with her family’s band in rural Massachusetts, still plays alongside her three sisters in the band, The Green Sisters. Scott, along with Betsy, are both members of the New Hampshire quartet, The Opined Few. Before that, Scott spent several years in various metal bands touring New England and much of the country. Despite their very different backgrounds in music, the pair still draw from their roots when writing and performing and have found a common love for Americana music.

joe young performs

With a voice and delivery that loosely resembles Ryan Adams, Joe Purdy, Ray LaMontagne, and Sean Hayes, Young has carved a niche for himself in the ears and hearts of listeners everywhere.  From standard pop-folk, to soul searching ballads, and a smattering of inquisitive rambling Americana, Young plays music that takes you on a journey. The destination of which is of no real importance, so long as you’ve got your ears and mind open, and are ready to follow him on down the road to aesthetic aural pleasantry.

Since his first experience plucking notes on his acoustic guitar at age 14 to present day, Young has taken a progressive approach to crafting genuine full-bodied tunes that get better and better by the day. Sure he cites Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash as influences. Sure he’s bound to be compared to a number of musicians from yesteryear and present day. This is all fine and well. If you’re really listening; if you’re really paying attention, what you’ll hear is Joe Young. And Joe Young hopes your pleased with just that.

Charlie Rockwood Farr and Lynne Taylor are singer songwriters and multi-instrumentalists who first met while on tour with Alt-country band, Liz Frame and the Kickers in 2011. They went on to work together in the Lynne Taylor Band and Halo and the Harlots, finally landing as Rockwood Taylor, an edgy Americana duo that calls on a wide range of influences from Woody Guthrie to John Prine and Townes Van Zandt, Billie Holiday to Patti Smith. And ultimately it is his uniquely expressive voice that not only allows these apparent contradictions to coexist, but in the process reveals them to be two inevitable sides of the same coin. The singing is exhilaratingly elastic but the emotions it expresses are not — the voice bends, but the heart breaks.
